Obituary:
Winfred Shoopman, age 76, a resident of Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mr. Shoopman was born March 15, 1936 in Anderson County. He is a lifelong resident of this area.

Winfred was a retired coal miner and before his retirement he was employed at Windrock Coal Company.

He served his country in the U.S. Army and he received several ribbons, medals, citations, and awards.

He was a faithful Christian and a member of the Big Mountain Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Nettie Seiber Shoopman, by his wife, Aline Shoopman, by brothers, Lawrence Shoopman and Lester Gene Shoopman and by a sister, Nancy Wright.

Winfred is survived by his wife, Lois Shoopman, by brothers; Lowell Shoopman and wife, Ruth and James Shoopman and wife, Barbara, by a sister, Ruth Woods and husband, Richard all of Oliver Springs, by a step-son, Buddy Christopher and wife, Michelle, by step-granddaughters; Kayla and Kelsey Christopher, by a sister-in-law, Helen Shoopman and by a brother-in-law, Don Wright.

He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends including special friends, Jerry and Darlene Dyer and Earl and Judy Cox.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 23, 2012, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Dewey Brown and Pastor Gary Massengale officiating. Burial and graveside services, with full military honors, will be held Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 11:00 am, at Anderson Memorial Gardens. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
