Fred was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School, 1954. He worked at the Y-12 plant from 1954 until 1994 where he retired as a General Foreman in machining. Before retiring from golf in September 2018, he was a long-time member of the Eagles Senior Golf Group where he had many friends. He was an active member of Dyllis Baptist Church and was Sunday School Director for many years until he resigned the position in 2014. In 2019, he gave up most of his duties in church due to his declining health.
Fred loved his family and enjoyed time with them. Most importantly, he loved his Lord Jesus Christ and his church family who were his close friends, including the men in his Sunday School Class, a group he joined as the youngest and left as the oldest. He loved playing golf with his regular foursome and was an avid football fan who loved working in his yard, cutting grass, and landscaping.
The family would like to thank Quality Private Duty Home Health and especially his health caretakers, Penny Barnes, Tammy Lively, Misty Beaty, Hannah Lloyd and Diana Kidwell. They were like family and were so very good to Fred. He loved them like daughters.
A graveside service will be held at Dyllis Baptist Church Cemetery on January 11, 2021 at 12 noon with Pastor James Griffith officiating.
