Mattie Ruth Freeman, age 82 of Oliver Springs, TN passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, August 2, 2020 surrounded by family.
Born on March 8, 1938 in Oliver Springs, TN. She was a Saved member of New Fairview Baptist Church. She was known for loving her children hard, adoring her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loving all types of flowers and her flower garden, and her infectious laugh. Mattie will be remembered as a strong independent woman who always had her family’s back. Mattie was forever their biggest fan.
She is preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life for 61 years, R.J. Freeman; parents, Eddie and Mamie French; sisters, Betty Bray and Shirley Huling; brothers, Jimmy French, Thaxton French and Howard French.
Mattie is survived by her son, Bill and wife Pam Freeman; daughter, Debbie and husband Jerry Bass and daughter, Donna Prater; grandsons, Steven and wife Anna Beasley, Billy and wife April Freeman; granddaughters, Myranda and husband Korey White, Kara Denton, Destiny Denton, and Shelley Beasley. Also, a host of great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene French and Ray French; sisters, Elaine Johnson and Lois Yarborough.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Premier Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7 pm with Pastor John Edwards and Tim Melton officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 at New Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family ask that all visitors wear a mask and practice social distancing.
