Melba Juanita Drown, age 89, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee passed away February 17, 2021. Nita was born February 4, 1932 in Lexington, Tennessee, the daughter of Robert Lee and Ollie Mae (Smith) Hart. Nita enjoyed sewing, gardening, traveling, visiting family, and cooking. She, especially, loved her dogs Jazzie and Hope. More than anything she loved her family. Nita was known at church as “church granny”. She was a member of Big Mountain Baptist Church. Nita was truly loved by all and her home was always open to friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Ollie Mae Hart, her husband, James Edward Drown, son Michael Edward Drown, and brother Joe Allen Hart.
She is survived by two daughters, Debi (Bill) Flock and Terry (Ron) Steward, grandchildren Steve, Darrell, Jamie, Brian, Tina, Tony, Tommy, Johnny, Jenny, Casey, 21 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and tons of nieces and nephews. Special mention of her lifelong friend Verle Whaley Gill. Siblings, Mavis (Lupe) Marquez, Mac (Phyllis) Hart, Sue (Billy) McGee, Penny (Junior) McGee.
Friends and family viewing will be held 12:00-1:30 pm Tuesday, February 23rd at Premier Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. Graveside services will be 2:00pm at Anderson Memorial Gardens, 640 Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton, Tennessee with Preacher Greg Overton officiating.
