Samuel Henry Armes, age 77, of Clinton, went home to be with the lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
He was born September 4, 1942 in Fork Mountain, TN. to John H. Armes and Zula H. Armes (Burgess). He was a long time member and deacon of Covington Missionary Baptist Church in Wartburg, Tennessee.
He was devoted to his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy onboard the USS Lexington, and trained with the U.S. Airforce.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially mowing and tending to his yearly garden. Sam was an active member of the Faith Masonic Lodge #756, Kerbela Temple, American Legion Post #0172, VFW, and DAV post in Oliver Springs.
Mr. Armes is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Sue Haney Armes of 46 years, father John H. and mother Zula H. Armes (Burgess), 5 brothers; James Armes, Johnny Ray Armes, David Portwood, Thomas Armes, and Donald Woods. Along with one sister Betty Pierce.
He is survived by his son Michael J. Armes and Robyn and Taran Armes, daughter Vanessa S. Thacker and husband Eddie Thacker, 2 grandchildren; granddaughter Rebecca Hammond and husband Michael Hammond, grandson Brandon Thacker. Also survived by brothers Brink Armes, Gregory Armes, Jerome Armes, and Todd Armes. Along with brother-in-law Robert Pierce, several nieces, nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Friday, March 20, 2020 at Premier Sharp Funeral Home.
A funeral service will begin at 7 pm with Pastor David Armes officiating. Please visit Premier Sharp Funeral Home Facebook page at 7 pm for a livestream of the funeral service. A Graveside will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Covington Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Wartburg.
